How to create a variation test from a roadmap creative
A variation test is for the moment you do not want to start from zero: the core concept is worth another shot, but one deliberate variable needs to change. In ATIYO, a variation stays attached to its parent roadmap creative while keeping its own hypothesis, attached asset, status, results, learning, and follow-up brief.
Use variation tests to make the change explicit. Instead of naming a file 'final-v2-really-final', write down exactly what is different and what you expect to learn. That makes the next decision easier for the person who made the ad and for the person reviewing the result later.
Choose one variable before you create the variation
A useful variation changes one meaningful thing at a time. That could be the opening hook, the proof order, the avatar-specific problem, the visual first frame, the offer, or the call to action. If every part changes at once, the outcome cannot tell you what caused the difference.
Create a variation test
- Open Roadmaps and select the creative you want to improve.
- Open the creative details, then find the Variation tests section.
- In What changes in this variation?, describe the one planned change and select Add variation test.
- Give the variation the right status so the board reflects what happens next.
- Attach the finished image or video from the Vault, or upload the variation directly when it is ready.
- After the test, record what happened in Results and capture the explanation in Learning.
Attach the actual variation
The variation has its own creative attachment. Choose the matching file from the Vault when it is already stored there, or use Or upload variation if this is the first place you are adding it. This keeps the parent concept and each produced version connected without replacing the parent creative's file.
If you need to connect a finished asset to the parent creative itself, use how to attach a Vault asset to a roadmap creative.
Turn a useful variation into the next brief
When the variation points to the next test, select Create brief from iteration. ATIYO makes a new brief from that variation so the next production request starts with the context you just earned instead of a blank page. Review the brief before assigning it; a variation is evidence for the next idea, not automatic proof that it should scale.
A simple operating habit
- Create the parent creative for the core concept.
- Add a variation only when you can name the change and the reason for it.
- Attach the exact asset that was tested.
- Log the result and learning as soon as the team decides the outcome.
- Create the next brief only when the learning gives the next edit a clear job.
That rhythm turns a roadmap into a record of decisions, not just a list of files. For the wider pipeline, read how creative statuses work and tracking winners and capturing learnings.
