Building a messaging framework that scales
Producing one great ad is a matter of talent. Producing hundreds of on-brand ads is a matter of framework. A messaging framework connects your avatars, core desires, and marketing angles into a repeatable structure so your team can brief at volume without every creative becoming a debate. This guide shows how to build that framework in your Brand Bible and put it to work across briefs and your roadmap.
The core equation of your framework
Every scalable message reduces to the same chain: a specific avatar has a specific core desire, and an angle frames your product as the path to it. When those three lock together, you have a message. When they do not, you have noise. Your framework is simply making this chain explicit and reusable.
- Avatar: who you are talking to
- Core desire: the outcome they want
- Angle: how you frame the product as the path to it
- Hook and ad type: how the angle shows up in a specific execution
Map the combinations that matter
A framework's power comes from combinations. Each avatar can pair with several desires, and each desire can be expressed through multiple angles. That matrix is your creative pipeline for months.
- In Brand Bible, confirm each avatar has its real core desires attached.
- For each desire, list the angles that could express it.
- Prioritize the avatar-desire-angle combinations most likely to win.
- Treat each strong combination as a brief waiting to be written.
Use awareness level to sequence messages
The same angle needs a different treatment depending on how much the audience already knows. Use the awareness level field on each brief to sequence your framework: unaware audiences need the problem framed, while product-aware audiences need a reason to choose you. Building this into the framework keeps your funnel coherent.
Turn the framework into briefs
A framework only scales if it flows into production without friction. Each prioritized combination becomes a brief that pulls directly from the library.
- Open new brief and select the avatar, core desire, and angle from your framework.
- Write the hook as a concrete expression of that angle.
- Set the awareness level and funnel stage to match where the message sits.
- Use the breakthrough memo to capture the insight so the execution stays sharp.
- On Growth and Team plans, use the custom brief builder to standardize the fields your framework relies on.
Run the framework through the roadmap
Volume needs visibility. As framework combinations become briefs, they enter your Creative Roadmap as cards you can filter by status, awareness, ad type, or your own queue. Multiple named roadmaps let you separate frameworks by product line or campaign, and bulk status changes keep a large pipeline manageable.
Let results refine the framework
A scalable framework is a feedback loop, not a fixed document. Use Insights to see which angles and avatars actually produce winners, then double down on what works and retire what does not.
- Review win rate and winners by date range in Insights.
- Identify the avatar-desire-angle combinations that repeatedly win.
- Promote those combinations and produce more variations of them.
- Archive angles that consistently lose so the framework stays sharp.
Keep the framework maintainable
- Keep angles distinct so combinations do not blur together
- Archive dead combinations instead of leaving them in the matrix
- Revisit the framework quarterly as your customer and offers evolve
- Document new winning angles in the library the moment they emerge
